Disable1 all toggleable alerts2 in an activity profile, including pesky "ghost" alerts.

1 You can re-enable any alerts you want to keep, using the settings on your watch or in the Connect app

2 Like "Drink", custom, time or distance alerts — any alert which can be enabled or disabled via a status toggle. Range-based alerts (like cadence and HR) will not be affected

Disable automatic laps for any kind of Garmin activity profile, including Golf1.

1 Golf is broken for some people, as automatic laps are enabled with no way to turn them off

For pool swim activities: change pool size unit to metric, so you can see your stats in metres.

This is useful if you swam in a 25 yds pool (for example), but you would like to see your stats in metres. (For pool swim, the stats unit is determined by the pool size unit.)

This will not change your pool size or actual value of any metrics, it will only change the display of your stats in Connect.

Enable or disable auto-lock, for newer devices like Fenix 8 where the setting has been removed, but the feature *apparently* still exists.

This is useful if:

  • You've restored settings from a backup where auto-lock is enabled and you want to disable it
  • You want to enable auto-lock

Notes:

  • I don't own a Fenix 8, so I can't guarantee this will work, but there's a good chance (see following points)
  • A Garmin forum user has reported that restoring a backup from an older device to Fenix 8 causes the auto-lock feature to be enabled on their Fenix 8. Presumably this is happening because the older device had auto-lock enabled in settings
  • It's reasonable to assume that Fenix 8 still has the auto-lock functionality under the covers, even though the setting has been removed
